About
My name is Juan Augusto Martin, I’m an IT engineer from Buenos Aires Argentina. I’ve got 8 years experience in the IT field, and I’m also a self-taught investor.
My passion for investing began accidentally during the Argentina’s 2001-2002 crisis. When I was 22 years old my savings account was converted to pesos and devaluated, and there was a government regulation preventing people from withdrawing their money invested in CDs (Certificates of Deposit). I felt so stupid for being such an ignorant to invest in CDs at the worst time in Argentina’s history!!!
I decided I would never commit such a terrible mistake any more. So I started to study Economics and Finance on my own as a hobby, and later Economic policies. I found out how fascinating it was getting to know how the world works. Then I moved on to learn about Investing , Trading and Money Management. In 2004 I started to put this whole thing into practice by investing and trading with a variety of financial instruments, it’s been very hard, but fortunately I started with the right foot and I’m making money!!! Experience is definitely the best way to learn!
I wanted to share my excitement about this new world with my friends and family but I realized that almost nobody knows a thing about money and the economy. There’s a lot of fear and prejudice.
I wonder how can it be that people work so hard to make a living and when it comes to putting their hard earned money to work they have no clue on what to do!! They either give it to another person (usually not knowledgeable/trustworthy) to manage it or they just don’t do anything!! (saving in cash is not a good option especially if you live in Argentina).
There is a lot of suffering that can be avoided by teaching people basic financial education. This blog is to bring to you what I have learned and to exchange opinions and learn from you as well.
If you learn just one thing from this blog I would be very happy for making my little contribution.
